   I treated one of my kitties years ago for acne. She is 16 yo now and this was when she was 2-3 years old. Her vet just had me cleanse her chin twice a day with a plain soap (no perfumes or dyes) and rinse. Hers cleared in about a week.
   Like the above poster said, plastic dishes can be the culprit. It was the case with mine, too. Once I threw out the plastic dishes and started using glass or ceramic, her acne cleared and never returned.

   One of mine had it for a while. I believe she got it from eating out of the other cat’s bowl. Poppy tends to slobber and when Sophie ate out of the same bowl that caused the acne. I was already using metal bowls so I just needed to keep them cleaner. I was feeding dry food at the time so didn’t see a need to wash them all that often. But once I started doing that everything was fine.
   I didn’t get any treatment for her acne. I scraped off what I could and just wiped it with water. I may have used a tiny bit of soap. But it pretty much went away on its own due to the cleaner bowls.

   You can try Stridex pads. They are very good to clean the area and keep the acne from continuing. As someone else suggested, plastic bowls do contribute to chin acne. So does dry food, which is coated with a greasy fat to make cats eat cereal. You might consider changing your cat to canned or raw food as well.

   My cat had it, and I was told to stop using plastic bowls for water and food, because of a reaction to the plastic

   my cat doesn’t have acne, but my dog does on his chin…he was given some acne cream stuff by the vet that wasn’t all that expensive.

   The first thing to do is get rid of any plastic bowls, and replace them with stainless steel or ceramic ones. The plastic harbors the bacteria that causes it. The first thing to try is hydrogen peroxide on a gauze pad, and wash his chin with that. If that doesn’t work (and in many cases it will, you just have to be diligent) get a box of stridex pads, and clean his chin with that. Wash it off with water after, so that he doesn’t ingest the liquid from the pads. Don’t get the ultra-extra strength ones, and just use them every other day. It really should work.
