Yes, get on the synthroid asap! Hypothyroidism can also cause you to be lethargic and tired all of the time; not to mention losing your hair, gaining weight and a host of other symptoms. I don’t think it would interfer with your allergy related problems. Get on it right away. You’ll be glad you did.

I don;t have any advice about hypo really, i had hyper which is the oppisite of yours, i was always skinny all my life until i got that and started taking my medicine, now i have gained weight, and when they check my thyroid blood work they say it is in normal range, but i wonder? but in my family some tend to gain weight with age anyway and so i don’t know if it’s thyroid or age?? I seem to keep going up!! I’m not real big, but i am to big for me!! you know? As far as my understanding about Hypo , you shouldn’t gain weight from that as long as you are not hypo now!! If you keep ypur blood work checked and it saids normal range then you wouldn’t be Hypo and there fore you wouldn’t gain weight from your thyroid problem, if you gain weight it would be from other reasons i would think because of what the doctors say about it!! I now can get Hypo if my thyroid level changes to that, thats why the check it every 6 mos. and i take medicine to keep it in check. Your medicine will help do that too. Be sure you have your blood work done to let your doctor watch it, so you;ll be on the right dose of medicine! Good luck to ya! Also, i have allergies and asthma too, and i am never better from the allgeries, so don’t wait to get that under control, you need to go ahead now and start treating you Thyroid before you do start gaining weight!! And other problems can happen to you!!
I’m not sure about the time frame for weight gain. I don’t know how long my thyroid had been irregular before I was diagnosed. I had also just had my 3rd child less than a year before. Some of the symptoms that stand out most are dry skin, hair falls out, fatigue and (the one to worry about) depression. This disease mimics depression…severely. Your doctor should have put you on meds if your THC levels were abnormal. Change Drs. if you aren’t satisfied…you know your body best. This is a life-long ailment and you have to take meds daily to keep under control.
